As the digital professions continue to develop, demand is stronger than supply. To make up for this skills shortage, training has appeared. This gives you many choices of possible trades in this industry.
Here, I’m going to mainly talk to you about what I know, that is to say web development. However, be aware that there are a lot of jobs related to development. According to the ideas received, the developer must be good at math. This is not always true. I would advise you to test before making an opinion. On the other hand, what you need is that you like it and that you are motivated and curious. This article is a way to encourage you. I will give you arguments allowing you to be interested in the profession of web developer.
1 – Your passion
So there is no secret, to find what you are passionate about you need to do some tests. Think that all your life you will do this job (aside from reorientation). Of course, the languages differ from each other, but the principle remains the same on almost all languages. But don’t worry, you will know quickly enough where to position yourself if you ask yourself the right questions.
Personally, at the beginning, I had a lot to learn because I was a beginner. I loved everything I learned. I followed tutorials, face-to-face courses and internships which gave me more or less concrete projects to carry out. These projects were all interesting at the beginning, but after leaving my training, I worked on missions that I liked less. My message here is that, certainly, the profession of developer is great, but the missions we are working on must be even more interesting. It will make us want to learn and the quality of our work will be felt.
2 – Your abilities
Of course, development is a skill that can be learned. But we all have different preferences and affinities. There are so many languages and domains. You can specialize in creating websites or mobile apps for example.
Some people like to create the appearance of a site more and others prefer to create more complex algorithms. Some people prefer to use website creation helpers rather than coding everything from scratch. You’ve probably heard of WorPress, one of the best known CMS. Do you want to have total control over what you do or delegate some of the work to a CMS?
The goal is to know where you stand and in which direction you want to progress in order to be able to target your objectives and find a motivation other than openings and remuneration.
